Letter From Othmar Grueninger Chairman of the Board
Remember the good old days when flying was a luxury? We’ve definitely entered a new era, haven’t we? Now that the airlines are caught between declining revenues and sharply increasing fuel prices, we’re being asked to pay extra for things that used to be included in our base price, such as onboard snacks and checked baggage. Routes are being cut; delays and last-minute cancellations are commonplace. Some airlines are even removing their entertainment systems, believing that the reducing the weight of the aircraft will help save fuel costs!
We understand your frustrations with flying, which is one of the reasons Ambassadair brought back nonstop charters in 2007. Chartering our own plane allows us to offer competitive prices without ridiculous add-ons — and make flying fun. Last year we played island music at airport departure, served complimentary Starbucks coffee, and streamlined check-in at the counter and the gate — all of this in addition to the standard Ambassadair group travel benefits you’ve come to know such as our helpful Travel Directors, fabulous accommodations and unique sightseeing options.
Of course, we’re doing it all again in 2009. Be sure to check out our nonstop charter section on pages 22-27 of this issue and choose your favorite trip. As far as I’m concerned, one of the best parts of a cold and snowy Indiana winter is the opportunity to escape to warm-weather destinations on a nonstop Ambassadair charter!
As we look towards the remainder of 2009, please let us know what part of this big, wide world you’d like to see. South America? Savannah? Sailing on a river cruise? Sunny Caribbean beaches? Send me an email and let me know what part of this big, wide world you’d like to see. Who knows? I might just decide to sneak inside your suitcase! (Just kidding! I wouldn’t want you to incur any additional airline fees on my behalf.)
We look forward to traveling with you soon!
